Mark Whitfield

Trained in Aikido, Boxing, Kung fu, judo, Kendo, Karate, Kyokushinkai, kick boxing.
Mark started training at the age of 11 with an introduction into Kyokushinkai karate, judo, and Kung fu, at the age of 17 Mark travelled to Thailand and trained in kick boxing. Living in England Mark trained under the late Sensei Enoeda (Karate Union Great Britain) and world Shotokan karate champion Sensei Billy Higgins, also training in kendo. Marks training took him to Athens, Greece.
Marks return to NZ enabled him to continue training in Karate (shotokan), as an instructor for many years teaching men women and holding children’s karate classes. As a women’s self defence instructor Mark ran numerous courses held at all girls schools.
Affiliated to Sensei Kanazawa (SKI) in Japan.
Mark later travelled and trained in Japan, Malaysia and Singapore. Providing private training sessions for clients.
After such a extensive background in martial arts Mark is now running Women’s self defence NZ for girls and women.

After Mark returned from England, he graded in another style, Shotokan in 1987.
